Hope that you had a wonderful holiday season and that your New Year has started off with a wonderful twist!
I'm more of a Chinese New Year type myself, I like the animal characters and get excited to see how different illustrators interpret the animal zodiac for each year! (In case you're wondering, this coming year will be the year of the Tiger! Check out the artwork on the USPS stamp.)
Can you believe it's almost February, the Chinese New Year happens February 1 this year and so I'm thinking ahead. (Think of it as a second chance for any resolutions that maybe could use a little boost at this point.) The holiday tags workshop sponsored by Yelp in December was so much fun that I thought with Valentine's Day coming up it would be super fun to do another zoom workshop!
We will be making a Valentine's Day card with watercolor and hand-lettering. The workshop will be via Zoom on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 1pm (EST). This is a pay-what-you-can, beginner class and you can see more information and sign-up here if you're interested.
Here are some things people said about the holiday gift tags workshop:
The class was fun and informative. Our instructor Sohan was very good at explaining. I truly appreciate the advice she gave on warm ups. This made so much sense. I can't wait to put into practice. - Tish W.
This was an amazing session for a beginner. Sohan is very caring and deliberate in each of the activities that she showed. I have taken many calligraphy classes because I always have been fascinated with handwriting. As a lefty, I have had to do a great deal of learning how to write on my own. She kept her session focused on a few things to make it easier to see how it is done. - Janet S.

CALLIGRAPHER & ARTIST Hi Reader, Just wanted to say thank you for visiting my studio during the Open Studios weekend! I'm so grateful for everyone who came by and had a chat. I always look forward to the conversations and experiences everyone has during the Open Studios. I've been resting this week and returning my office back to working order. I'll be honest, my emails are not very frequent, but keep in touch and I will update you as I add collections and work. One of my small artists' books...
Hey Reader, This week I wanted to share with you some information about vintage postage stamps! I got interested in vintage postage stamps a few years ago after seeing envelopes mailed with these beautiful and historical stamps on them. There are so many stamps in the USPS history and so many out there that have never been used to mail an envelope! Can you believe there is a whole industry of reselling vintage postage stamps for use?! Who could have known?! But now you do. :D You can continue...
